Design Engineering

We provide comprehensive electrical design services to support substation and power infrastructure projects, delivering clear, compliant and buildable solutions. Our capability includes the production of schematics and drawings to all relevant DNO standards, ensuring designs are fully aligned with network operator and client requirements. We also deliver substation interface design, coordinating the interaction between primary plant, secondary systems, protection and control equipment, and associated civil and building elements. Our design outputs include multicore block diagrams, cable schedules and core sheets, ensuring accurate coordination of cabling, termination and interfacing between systems, and supporting efficient installation, testing and commissioning.

Installation

We deliver a full range of electrical installation services across substation and power infrastructure projects, covering voltage levels from 415V LV switchboards through to 11kV and 33kV switchgear and up to 275kV AIS substations. Our installation capability includes the positioning and installation of switchboards, HV and LV switchgear, power transformers and associated primary plant, carried out in accordance with manufacturer requirements, DNO standards and project specifications. We install and manage cable management systems, including ladder, tray, basket and trench systems, and undertake the installation, dressing and termination of LV, control and protection cabling. This includes multicore cable installation, gland and termination works, ferruling and wiring terminations within panels, marshalling kiosks and switchgear. All works are completed under controlled quality processes to support safe testing, commissioning and final energisation.

Testing and Commissioning

We provide comprehensive testing, commissioning and energisation services for electrical substations and power infrastructure across a wide range of voltage levels. Our commissioning capability includes the delivery of advanced protection scheme commissioning and relay testing, ensuring that all protection systems operate correctly, selectively and in accordance with network and client requirements.

Our engineers undertake primary injection testing for critical protection schemes, including transformer differential and line differential protection, to validate correct operation under simulated fault conditions. This includes slope testing of transformer differential characteristics, verification of restraint and operate settings, and confirmation of correct CT polarity, ratio and stability. We also carry out a full suite of primary and secondary testing, including current transformer (CT) and voltage transformer (VT) testing, magnetisation and ratio testing, burden checks and polarity verification, supported by the use of CT analysers and specialist test equipment.

Commissioning activities are delivered in a controlled and structured manner, with detailed test plans, ITP checklists and full documentation provided to support safe energisation and final handover into service. We work closely with clients, OEMs and network operators to ensure systems are fully integrated, compliant and operational.
