Voltagen is an employee-owned specialist engineering company delivering high-quality electrical substation solutions across the UK. We operate at the heart of the power and infrastructure sector, providing safe, reliable and compliant engineering services that support the generation, distribution and transformation of electrical energy for our clients.

We deliver the complete lifecycle of substation projects, from early-stage design and engineering through to construction, installation, testing, commissioning and final energisation into service. Our experience covers both new-build and refurbishment projects and includes work across a wide range of voltage levels, supporting utilities, network operators, renewable energy developers, industrial clients and principal contractors.

Our engineering capability includes primary and secondary substation design, protection and control systems, and full technical coordination to ensure designs are practical, buildable and compliant with current standards. We undertake the construction of substation buildings and associated civil and structural works, including foundations, cable trenches, ducts, earth mats and integrated building services. Our installation teams are experienced in the installation of HV and LV switchgear, power transformers, busbars, protection panels, control equipment and associated cabling, delivered in line with strict quality and safety controls.

Testing, commissioning and energisation form a core part of our service offering. We carry out pre-commissioning, functional testing, protection testing, system integration and final commissioning, ensuring that assets are safely brought into service and fully documented for handover. Our commissioning engineers work closely with clients, OEMs and network operators to achieve successful energisation and acceptance.
